Mission Statement

The Mission of the Public Works Department is to provide and manage safe, efficient, and environmentally sensitive transportation and storm water systems to satisfy diverse mobility needs and to provide flood protection to public lands.

Message from Robert R. Gordon, P.E., Director

The Public Works Department is proud to serve our community by constructing and maintaining essential transportation and storm water systems while focusing on safety and environmental stewardship. We are the first county in Florida to receive national Accreditation by the American Public Works Association for delivering these services to you with utmost efficiency, cost effectiveness, and quality. I invite you to visit the links below so that you may become familiar with our functions, programs, and services. Our Customer Service Center is happy to receive your calls for service requests and to answer questions regarding the services that we provide. The Center is open Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5:30 pm. Please call 813 635-5400. For service requests after normal working hours, on weekends, or holidays please call the Hillsborough County Citizen Action Center at 813 272-5900.
