The methodology involved in updating the Hillsborough County Truck Route Plan includes:
- Detailed examination of the current Truck Route Plan
- Collecting updated statistics on proposed roads, such as surrounding land use, number of lanes on road, and number of car/truck accidents (See complete list of factors being reviewed in this analysis and their weighting scores)
- Considering changing the definition of "regulated truck" in the Truck Route Plan to include different factors, such as number of wheels on the ground or silhouette of the truck (See complete list of factors being considered)
- Examination of studies produced by other governmental agencies such as the "Goods Movement Study" produced by the Florida Department of Transportation
- Examination of the list of "Hotspots" produced by the Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO) to determine problems areas around the county for truck traffic
- The Committee will examine existing truck volume and turning movements at selected locations to determine existing patterns of truck routes
