The Local Mitigation Strategy provides for the unifying of various countywide initiatives associated with reducing Hillsborough County's vulnerability to manmade and natural disasters. This program consists of identifying the community's vulnerability to hazards and working to minimize associated risks. The County is required by the State to maintain a Local Mitigation Strategy per requirements referenced in Chapter 163, Part II, FS, and per requirements identified through the Florida Department of Community Affairs, Division of Emergency Management for the dissemination of pre-disaster mitigation grant funds.
