A
native from Aguascalientes, México, Maricela Medrano was recently
hired as Ombudsman in April 2003.
Maricela holds a Bachelors Degree in Urban Planning from the “Universidad
Autónoma de Aguascalientes, México,” and a Masters
Degree in Public Administration and an interdisciplinary program
in Transportation Planning from the University of South Florida.
Maricela has more than 10 years of experience as an Urban Planner
in the United States and México. Prior to Maricela’s
current position, she was working as an Urban Planner for the City
of Tampa for almost 6 years. There, Maricela was the urban planner
for Ybor City, a National Historic Landmark District.
Being bilingual and bicultural also allows Maricela to provide a
better service to the Hispanic community in our County.
